Two new Justices were today appointed to the Supreme Court of the Maldives by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. In a ceremony held at the President’s Office this morning, the new Justices Hon Uz Ali Rasheed Hussain, and Hon Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim, had their oaths of office administered by the Chief Justice of the Maldives, Hon Uz Ahmed Muthasim Adnan.
Hon Uz Ali Rasheed Hussain most recently served as a Judge at the Criminal Court of the Maldives, where he was the acting Chief Judge prior to his appointment to the Supreme Court of the Maldives. He has also previously served as a Judge at the Drug Court of the Maldives and as the Chief Judge of the Civil Court of the Maldives. Hon Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim most recently served as a Council Member at the Islamic University of the Maldives and as a Member of the Shari'ah Committee of Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC). He also served as a Partner of Premier Chambers.
The Supreme Court of the Maldives now consists of 7 Justices; Chief Justice Hon Uz Ahmed Muthasim Adnan, Justice Hon Dr. Azmiralda Zahir, Justice Hon Uza Aisha Shujune Muhammad, Justice Hon Uz Mahaz Ali Zahir, Justice Hon Uz Husnu Al Suood, Justice Hon Ali Rasheed Hussain, and Justice Hon Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim.
