Ms. Shoko Noda, United Nations Resident Coordinator and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative to the Maldives, paid a courtesy call on the Chief Justice of the Maldives.

During the visit, discussions were held on matters relating to the Conference on Judicial Independence and Reform, including areas of cooperation and support for initiatives aimed at strengthening judicial independence and institutional development.

The meeting was held at the Supreme Court of the Maldives at 10:30 a.m. and was attended by Hon. Dr. Ahmed Abdulla Didi, Chief Justice of the Maldives; Ms. Shoko Noda; Dr. Hussain Faiz, Secretary General of the Supreme Court of the Maldives; and Ustaz Ahmed Majid, Chancellor of the Judicial Academy.

The meeting provided an opportunity for a constructive exchange of views on matters of mutual interest concerning the judiciary and the administration of justice. Discussions also focused on avenues for continued collaboration in support of judicial reform, capacity building, and the further strengthening of the rule of law in the Maldives.
