Ali Rasheed Hussainޢަލީ ރަޝީދު ޙުސައިން

Ali Rasheed Hussain is a distinguished legal professional from the Republic of Maldives, with extensive experience in Islamic Shari'ah and Law. Born in Keyodhoo, Vaavu Atoll, he has dedicated his career to the judiciary, legal education, and legislative development.

Ali Rasheed Hussain earned his Bachelor’s degree in Shari'ah and Law from Al-Azhar University of Egypt in 2002 and pursued a Master’s degree in Shari'ah at American Open University in 2006. He has also undertaken specialized training in Shari'ah and Law, including a one-year program on fatwa issuance at Dar al-Ifta, Egypt.

His judicial career began on 5th March 2007, when he was appointed as a Judge of the Criminal Court. Over the years, he has served in various capacities across different courts in the Maldives, gaining comprehensive experience in criminal, civil, and drug-related cases. His expertise and contributions to the legal field led to his appointment as a Justice of the Supreme Court of the Maldives on 8th September 2020.

In addition to his judicial responsibilities, Ali Rasheed Hussain has played an active role in legislative drafting and legal education. He has been involved in the formulation of multiple acts and regulations and has served as a lecturer at the Islamic University of Maldives and Villa College, where he has taught various Shari'ah and Law subjects. Furthermore, he has conducted numerous training sessions on Human Rights and Criminal Procedure for judges, lawyers, police officers, and parole officers.
